Şanlıurfa Exhibition Stand, established under the leadership of Şanlıurfa Governorship and with the participation of Karacadağ Development Agency, Şanlıurfa Municipality and Şanlıurfa Chamber of Trade and Industry, was awarded “the best exhibition stand in representing its local province.”

The award was presented to Mr. Selami Yıldız, the Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, on behalf of the city governorship. Şanlıurfa stand attracted many visitors not only because of traditional night activities (‘Sıra Geceleri’) and the offers of the local food (raw meat patty (chee kufta), the bitter Arabic coffee (mırra), Urfa Delight and Urfa patties), but also because of the figurative imitations of mud beehive houses of Harran and first time exhibited Göbeklitepe. Many TV channels broadcast Şanlıurfa stand in their major news programs due to the colorful activities took part there. In addition, Göbeklitepe catalogs and brochures published in Turkish, English and German, and Urfa presentation CD’s prepared in Turkish and English, travel guides, CD’s of Urfa folk songs and Sıra Gecesi songs were handed out. Finance Minister Mr. Mehmet Şimşek visited the stand and help kneading the chee kufta and sang the songs together with Sıra Gecesi team. Many presents were given to Palestinian Tourism Minister Dr. Khuloud Daibas and the accompanying group, during their visit to the stand. Furthermore, Hüseyin Avni Mutlu, the governor of İstanbul, Mustafa Toprak, the governor of Diyarbakır, Celalettin Cerrah, the governor of Osmaniye, Hasan Duruer, former governor of Mardin and Mustafa Sarıgül, Mayor of Şişli visited the stand.
