Karacadağ Development Agency has organized a study visit to South Korea and Japan. The delegation will study these good examples of development organizations and regional development countries practices, and will introduce investment opportunities of the GAP Region, Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa, and attend JATA fair.
The part of the program at Seoul started. Firstly the delegation, headed by Governor of Diyarbakır Mustafa TOPRAK, visited the Turkish embassy. The Ambassador Mustafa Naci Sarıbaş, gave information about history of relations between South Korea and Turkey, emphasized the importance of the opportunities it may create for the development. Ambassador said: "South Korea and Turkey's foreign trade volume is nearly 5 billion dollars. Against South Korea, Turkey has a serious foreign trade deficit. South Korea exports about 4.5 billion dollars. On the other hand, Turkey's exports only 500 million dollars. Therefore, we have to work harder to close the gap. Our people should come here more. Institutions and professional organizations should increase efforts to increase exports. To sign a Free Trade Agreement (waiting for approval by Parliament) between Turkey and South Korea is an important step in increasing our exports. South Korea sends about 12 million tourists. These tourists are especially interested in culture and faith tourism. However, only 150 thousand of them going to Turkey."
Diyarbakir Governor Mustafa TOPRAK said, Karacadağ Development Agency have carried out this visit to see activities of development relevant institutions and organizations in Seoul, and introduce our region's business and investment opportunities, and look for cooperation areas between the region and South Korea. Also Governor Toprak thanked to Mr Ambassador and Office Of The Commercial Counsellor staff.
Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa can Export Agricultural Products and Processed Food!
Later, under the program, Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) was visited. KOIMA officials informed the delegation about union organization, the activities, work areas and then showed a promotional film.Governor of Diyarbakir, Mr. Mustafa TOPRAK, who spoke on behalf of the Board, said: “Our country's economy gained momentum in recent years, achieved a great improvement, in this success exporting played an important role. the government is determined target $ 500 billion by 2023 as growth of exports. After 2002 period, a remarkable increase been observed in the exports of Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa, and GAP project also resulted in a significant increase in agricultural production. Among the provinces of GAP region, Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa have maximum land to be irrigated, this situation is important opportunities for the development of the agricultural industry. Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa can export agricultural and food products to South Korea. For this purpose KOIMA members invited to participate in the fairs organized in the region.”
Solar Power and Cultural Tourism potentials are important!
The delegation member the President of the Şanlıurfa Municipality. A. Eşref FAKIBABA said: “Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa are the world's oldest inhabited cities. In our region, many of the prophet lived or were born here prophet Abraham i.e., Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa are successors of dozens of civilization, in terms of historical and cultural tourism there is a great potential and investment opportunities”.
President of Şanlıurfa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sabri ERTEKIN, said:“ The region has a great potential, especially in the field of solar energy, and they are ready to cooperate with those who want to invest in this sector.
