Japan will provide technical support for the development of agricultural production in Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa. Karacadağ Development Agency has submitted Technical Cooperation Project to Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for development of agro-industrial in Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa which are within its sphere of responsibility.
JICA will provide know-how for a period of 3 years to the public institutions and NGO's operating in the field of agro-based industries in the region in case of acceptance of the project. JICA Europe-Middle East officer has taken information about works of the Agency and has visited companies operating in agro-industrial based in Diyarbakır Organized Industrial Zone. The Officer also has said that we as JICA support many projects across the world and with our support we contribute to the development of the national economies. Purpose of our visit to TRC2 Region is to learn about the region, and also get information about its potential. In case the project that Karacadağ Development Agency has submitted to JICA is accepted this will help the agency serve the region's economy with the know-how and the knowledge gained from the project.Vice President of Turkey Office of Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA) Taichi Minamitani said that "Turkey is an important country for us. We are carrying major projects together in Turkey with our local partners. We have interested in GAP Region since a long time ago and GAP is a region we always wanted to be in. Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa located in the center of GAP region. Therefore we care about the project that Karacadağ Development Agency has submitted our Agency. Agro-based industries in the region are improving each day that's why as JICA we would like to contribute to this development. We will provide technical support through the project to the public institutions and NGOs that are operating in the agricultural sector. Currently, the evaluation processes of the project is continuing. We hope to complete the evaluation process of the project by the March 2014 and start to implementing it after that date.
