Şanlıurfa intruduced Göbeklitepe in ITB 2014 Berlin, The World’s Leading Travel Trade Show
With more than 174,000 visitors, among these 114,000 trade visitors, and 11,000 represented companies from 189 countries ITB Berlin has the leading role for all tourism industry offers. Şanlıurfa opened a stand with the coordination of Şanlıurfa Governorship and participation of Şanlıurfa Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate, Special Provincial Administration, Şanlıurfa Municipality, Karacadağ Development Agency, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Southeastern Anatolia Project Regional Development Administration and SURKAV. Throughout the exhibition, the excavation team of Göbeklitepe lead by Klaus Schmidt of the German Archaeological Institute also participated the exhibition and informed the visitors about the current situation in Göbeklitepe. The visitors were distributed promotion materials such as CD, VCD, brochures, beach bag and magnet with Göbeklitepe photos, 2014 calendar and flash disc.
On the other hand, the day before the ITB Berlin, on March 4th 2014, a conference was held in Turkish Embassy in Berlin by German archeologist Klaus Schmidt. The conference was attended by Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu Ministry of EU Affairs, Abdurrahman Arıcı Assistant Deputy Minister of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Hüseyin Avni Karslıoğlu Ambassador of Turkey in Germany, officials from Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Germany and tour operators. At the end of the conference the participants were distributed promotional materials and a reception was hosted by Turkish Embassy in Berlin.
