Sanliurfa takes firm steps towards becoming one of the important renewable energy centers in Turkey.
GAP (Southeastern Anatolian Project) Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Application and Research Center (GAP YENEV), costs 16 million TL, is financed by Ministry of Development and supported by GAP Regional Development Administration, Karacadag Development Agency, Tigris Development Agency, Sanliurfa Chamber of Commerce, Sanliurfa Metropolitan Municipality and its ground breaking ceremony was arranged.
At the ceremony, Sadrettin KARAHOCAGIL, The President of GAP Regional Development Administration, said that Sanliurfa has potential to compete globally not only in the production of renewable energy from sun but also in the production of renewable energy from wind, biogas and thermal. We want to make use of it. With building, laboratory and devices the center will cost 16 Million Turkish Liras. There will be laboratories in the center and they will study in the areas of renewable energy production from sun, wind and biogas and about Energy efficiency.
