South Korean Tourism Committee İn Sanliurfa

South Korean Committee composed of 15 people from tourism agencies and journalists conducted study tours on 01-03 July 2012 in Sanliurfa with the organization and sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the support of Tokyo Culture and Tourism Counsel. The committee, which is invited by Governorship of Sanliurfa, is hosted together with Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, Sanliurfa Municipality, Karacadag Development Agency, Southeastern Anatolia Project Regional Development Administration and Province of Sanliurfa Culture Education Art and Research Foundation.
South Korean Committee conducted a number of visits. The committee visited the Deputy Mayor from the Sanliurfa Municipality, Mr. Mehmet Fevzi Yücetepe and Director of Culture and Social Affairs, Mr. Necmi Karacadağ and the Deputy Governor, Mr. Erdoğan Kanyılmaz. Mr. Kanyılmaz expressed his faith that current amity will get stronger with this visit. The promotional documents and handcrafts products pertaining to Sanliurfa were given to the committee members during the visits. After the visits to the institutions, Committee visited Gobekli Tepe, Haleplibahçe Mosaics, Sanliurfa Museums, Grand Mosque, Kitchen Museum, Balıklıgol, Custom Han, Bazaars and Historic Bazaars. On the second day, the committee paid a visit to the Harran Castel, Harran Grand Mosque, Harran Kumbet House, Birecik Kelaynak Breeding Station and Halfeti.
An assessment meeting was held with the participation of presidents of relevant institutions, hotel managers and tour operators in Sanliurfa. Having received opinions and suggestions of the South Korean guests, the representatives of the local institutions in Sanliurfa who attended the meeting cited their expectation that the South Korean Committee would act as tourism ambassadors on behalf of Sanliurfa when they return to their country. Sanliurfa shall continue to be promoted to the Far East Countries thanks to the Sanliurfa’s participation in the JATA International Tourism Fair to be held in Tokyo from September 20th through 23rd, 2012 after South Korea Committee’s visit. After this visit, Sanliurfa Tourism Commission for Fair Preparation convened under the chairmanship of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Ramazan Seçilmiş in order to coordinate the preparations for the abovementioned fair participation.
