Studies to assess Diyarbakir’s potential for logistics as a center of transportation and trade continue. Karacadağ Development Agency prepares Diyarbakir Logistics Centre Feasibility Report.

First meeting was held in July and second meeting was held on August 27, 2012. During the day-long meetings, institutions and organizations’ officials, NGO representatives related to the logistics sector such as the Provincial Directorate of Science, Industry and Technology, Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality, Dicle University, Southeastern Industrialist and Businessmen’s Association, Independent Industrialist and Businessmen’s Association, Southeast, Southeast Textile Businessmen’s Association, Diyarbakir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Diyarbakir Union of Chamber of Craftsmen and Artisans, Regional Directorate of Customs, Regional Directorate of Maritime Transport and Communications attended the meetings.  In the second round of the meetings, representatives of companies operating in the logistics industry were presented. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tanyaş, from the Maltepe University Head of International Trade and Logistics Management Department, along with Cag University lecturer Fevzi Filik who take part in the Diyarbakir Logistics Centre Feasibility Report Preparation Team delivered a presentation. In the meeting SWOT analysis of Diyarbakir in terms of logistics was conducted.  Views and opinions expressed by the participants related to the Logistics Centre and also information and data collected will be incorporated to the report being prepared. The results of the feasibility studies shall be utilized in order to decide whether or not to establish the Logistics Centre in Diyarbakir, and the size, scope, finance and business models if established.
